George was the son of William and Margaret. His dad was born 1800 in Virginia. Margaret 1798 Virginia. In 1860 the family were in CA.
On Jun 3, 1847 he and Hannah (Hiney) were married in Dane CO, WI. They live in Roxbury, Dane CO. in 1860. Children were: Melissa, Mary 1855, Emma 1856, Harriette 1860, Maggie 1864, Nellie 1869 and Jennie 1872.
Sep 16, 1861 he enlisted in the WI 7th Light Art Bat in Eagle, WI. He mustered out Jul 20, 1865.
He died April 2, 1902, in Barron and was buried there in Wayside Cemetery. The "Alford" gravestone is inscribed "George W. Alford Died April 8, 1902 Age 77 Yrs" and "Hannah Alford Died Nov. 11, 1889 Age 81 Yrs.
(Death year in records show 1901 but stone says 1902.)
