KIMBERLY L. FILLAR
Ms. Kimberly Fillar, formerly of Belgium, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Alexandria, VA early Monday morning, January 9th, 2012. She was 40 years old.
Kimberly was born in Milwaukee on October 18, 1971, daughter of Gordon and Judy Crawford Fillar. The family moved to Belgium in 1974.
Ms. Fillar attended local schools, graduating from Cedar Grove-Belgium High School with the Class of 1990. She later attended UW Madison, graduating in 1995 with degrees in Linguistics and Philosophy.
On December 19, 1994 Kimberly was united in marriage with James Whitman in Madison, WI. The couple moved to Virginia in 2003. After they were blessed with their son, Kimberly stayed home and devoted herself to his care. She was an insatiable reader who just loved to learn! Kimberly enjoyed crafts and cross stitch, was an avid photographer and loved her cats. Above all, she loved spending time with her son, Owen, doing crafts and teaching him to read.
Ms. Fillar is survived by her husband, James Whitman of Alexandria, VA, her son, Owen, also of Alexandria and her parents Gordon and Judy Fillar of Belgium. She is further survived by parents-in-law Milan and Gerry Whitman of Canyon Lake, TX, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 16th, at St. Mary Lake Church, Belgium. Father Jim Ernster will officiate the service. Kimberly will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at CHURCH Monday from 11AM-12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the donors charity of choice.
