PORTAGE - Kathryn "Casey" Amend, age 66, of Portage, died on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at her home following a brief battle with lung cancer.
Kathryn Ann Healy was born in Racine on Feb. 22, 1937, the daughter of Bernard and Dorothy (Bush) Healy.
On April 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Norbert "Butch" Amend at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Racine.
Casey worked for many years at AMPI. After her retirement, she volunteered in the school library at Julia Rusch.
Casey had a generous and unselfish heart. She saw the needs of others and responded to them. She loved to laugh, the view of the park, the Badgers and the Packers, the Super Bowl, her dog "Bootsie" and the love of her family. She could throw a party like no other.
She is survived by three children, Darcie (Tim) Hoff of Endeavor, Dan (Michelle) Amend of Madison, and Bill (Sue) Amend of Oregon; seven grandchildren, Trevor and Meghan Hoff, Jeff, Steve and Jacob Amend, and Alex and Mike Amend; a brother, Jim (Barbara) Healy of Green Bay; a sister, Mary (Frank) Maritato of Naples, Fla.; a special sister-in-law and friend, Jane and her family; and other close relatives and friends.
Casey was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband and best friend, Butch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. from ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH in Portage with Father Jason Hesseling presiding. Inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
