HAZEL GREEN, Wis. -- Sister Eustelle Affelt, OP, 90, of St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Villa.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, followed by burial in the Motherhouse cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. today at the Motherhouse, where a wake and remembering service will be at 6:30 p.m. Leonard Funeral Home, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Eustelle Affelt ministered 19 years in elementary schools as teacher and staff and 15 years as high school business officer. She spent one year as a family care giver; one year as a secretary at Service Master; and 11 years as a volunteer at Oak Park Hospital, Oak Park, Ill., during seven of which she was secretary at River Forest Bank, River Forest, Ill. She then spent 10 years at the Motherhouse, enriching community life before moving this past year to the Villa. Sister ministered in Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri.

Sister Eustelle Affelt was born on July 13, 1921, in Lemont, Ill., daughter of Stella Kujawa and Joseph Affelt.

She made her profession of vows on Aug. 5, 1953.

Surviving are a brother, the Rev. Francis Affelt, OFM; and the Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 58 years.
