SINSINAWA, Wis. -- Sister Joan Mary Baldridge, (Marinus), OP, 77, of the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Motherhouse.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, with burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. today at the Motherhouse, where there will be a wake and remembering service at 6:30 p.m. The Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Home, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Joan Mary was an educator. She taught for 43 years in elementary schools; 16 years as teacher and 27 years as a principal. She took a two-year sabbatical to study. She was elected to Congregation Leadership; serving four years as Vicaress Provincial, and eight years as Prioress Provincial of the Northeast Province. She was at the Motherhouse this past year. She ministered in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., New York and New Jersey.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1933, in Ashland, daughter of Margaret Eva Moloney and William George Baldridge.

She made her profession of vows on Aug. 5, 1952.

Surviving are a twin brother, John, of Azusa, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and the Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 58 years.
