Arnold J. Bauer, 69, of Mondovi, Wis., died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire, Wis.

He was born on December 8, 1935, in the town of Lima, Pepin County, Wis., to Paul F. and Annabel (Pichler) Bauer. He was a 1953 graduate of Mondovi High School. Arnie served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He married Barbara Will on September 2, 1959, in Durand, Wis.

Arnie was employed as a parts man by Hintermeyer Implement in Mondovi, Kohler Implement in Durand and Lindstrom Implement in Modena. He retired in 2001.

Arnie enjoyed playing cards, volleyball, decorating for Christmas and mowing lawns.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi and the Mondovi American Legion Post 154.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bauer of Mondovi; three children, Mary (John) Schultz of Cameron, Wis., Dennis (Traci) Bauer of Mondovi and Patrick Bauer (fiancée Marcia King) of Mondovi; three grandchildren, Lucas Schultz, Jessie Bauer and Dakota King; 10 brothers and sisters, Lorraine (Norbert H.) Bauer of Durand, James P. (Toosie) Bauer of Mondovi, Dorothy Gruber of Mondovi, Ronald F. (Rosalie) Bauer of Mondovi, Frank (Marianne) Bauer of Brighton, Colo., Norman A. (Kathryn) Bauer of Mondovi, Ervin (Louise) Bauer of Alma, Wis., Shirley (Maurice) Meyers of Canning, Canada, Sharon (Milton) Stuart of Mondovi, and Edmund Bauer (special friend Lora Canar) of Mondovi; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Paul S. Bauer.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi, with Fr. James Kurzynski officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the grave by the Mondovi Veterans.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi and on Saturday one hour before the Mass at the church. There will be a Scripture wake on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
