ASBURY, MINNIE “BETTY”


On Tuesday, September 21, 2010, Minnie “Betty” L. Asbury, age 83 of Seymour, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas A. Asbury; parents VanBuren and Cora Lovin; brothers Fred Lovin, George Lovin, Roy Lovin, Clyde Lovin; and sister Ollie Hensley.

She is survived by two sisters: Pansy Bailey of Marshall, North Carolina and Pearl Barnes of Hendersonville, North Carolina; four children: daughter Connie and husband Bruce Eads of Concord, North Carolina; daughter Deborah and husband Harold Ledbetter of Knoxville; son Randall and wife Paula of Corryton; and daughter Felicia and husband Tony Hurst of Knoxville.

Affectionately known as “Mammaw”, she is also survived by five grandchildren: Crystal Hill, Stephanie Phillips, Jessica and husband Edmond Ritchie, John Ledbetter and wife Summer, and Clayton Hurst and honorary granddaughter Heather England; three greatgrandchildren: Alaina Ritchie, Cyrus Ritchie and “EJ” Phillips, plus a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Asbury was a founding member of First Apostolic Church and loved worshipping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed gardening and quilting, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2010 at First Apostolic Church, 5020 Pleasant Ridge Road, Knoxville, Tennessee with Bishop Billy McCool and Pastor Mark McCool officiating.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 25, 2010 at 10 : 0 0 a.m. at Bookwalter Cemetery and will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. Pallbearers include Harold Ledbet ter, Tony Hurst, Bruce Eads, John Ledbetter, Clayton Hurst and Edmond Ritchie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at First Apostolic Church Griffey-Gentry Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
