Bruce Armstrong Dies at Age 51

Bruce Armstrong, 51, Phlox area resident most of his life, and for the past two years resident at Lily where he was employed in logging, died Monday.

He was born in the town of Norwood June 26, 1915, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Armstrong. A graduate of Mattoon high school and World War II veteran, he served with the United States Army from April 10, 1941 until July 29, 1945.

After discharge from military service, Mr. Armstrong, who was unmarried, resided in Milwaukee and in the state of Arkansas, returning to Phlox in 1956.

Surviving are his mother, who resides at New Berlin, WI, three sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Laura Jereb of Milwaukee, Mrs. Noreen Stewart of Fountain Valley, CA, Mrs. Margaret Doering of Menomonee Falls, WI, Robert of route 1, Larry of New Berlin, Lee and Gordon, both of West Allis, and Gene, serving with the armed forces in Viet Nam.

His father died in 1940.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the McCandless-Zobel and Bradley funeral home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Town of Norwood cemetery.
