Shirley M. Allen, 86, Bellevue, died Monday morning, March 22, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born on December 2, 1923 in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and Lorraine Zeise. Shirley married Joseph Allen on April 25, 1942 in Milwaukee, he preceded her in death on July 23, 1992. After her marriage to Joseph, she moved to Green Bay to work on the family farm. She found immense joy when she could give treats to various people; especially ho-ho bars. Shirley also enjoyed going to the casino. She made beaded ornaments for family and friends as well as other crafts. Another joy of Shirley's was hosting families and traveling with the People to People organization. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her five daughters and one son, Susan (Robert) VandenBush, Carol Allen, Diane (Dennis) Gaestel, Jean (Gerald) Rasmussen and Joan Wertel, and James (Wendy) Allen, all of Green Bay; 14 grandchildren, John, Randy, Tony VandenBush, Chris Christensen, Jeff and Steve Chervenka, Lori Joachim, Mickey Tousignant, Stacey Denil, Mike and Scott Wertel, Brittany, Jameson and Mackenzie Allen; and 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Zeise, Milwaukee, and James (Sadie) Zeise, Gillett; sister-in-law, Gloria Zeise; brother-in-law, Raphael (Jane) Allen, and sister-in-law, Cecelia Linssen; and her two special cats, Bruce and Chrissy. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph (Phyllis) Zeise and Donald Zeise; sister, Audrey (Donald) Klaeser; sister-in-law, Caroline Zeise; great granddaughters, Julia Christensen and Myah VandenBush; son-in-law; Ray Wertel; brothers-in-law, Richard Allen and Bob Linssen Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd., until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Ron Belitz officiating. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to the Allen family at www.prokowall.com In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Golden Living, Aurora BayCare and VNA Hospice for their care and consideration given to Shirley.
