Marion L. Ahlstrom, age 83, of Ashland, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Ashland. She was born May 14, 1927, in the Town of Kelly, the daughter of Eric S and Anna E. (Hallberg) Johnson.
On October 18, 1952, she married Arthur C Ahlstrom, in Ashland. From 1946 to 1952, she worked as a secretary for Lake Superior District Power Company and worked several years as the Salem Baptist Church Secretary. Marion worked at Munsingwear, in Ashland and for 17 years, she worked for Meyers Drug Company. Marion was a member of Salem Baptist Church and served in several ministries including youth advisor, Sunday School Teacher, Women's Ministries and Girls meeting God. She was a devoted wife and mother. Along with her husband, they were always ready to open their hearts and home to family and friends. Among her special interests were sending "picture letters" to her sisters, cooking, baking, camping and flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Ahlstrom, Ashland; two sisters, Linnea Carrel, Yakima, WA and Evelyn (Carl) Lange, Salisbury, IN; a brother, Norman (Shirley) Johnson, Woodbury, MN; special daughters, Deb Topley and Therese Lachecki; and nieces, nephews, an uncle, aunts; cousins and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kevin Ahlstrom; a daughter, Jody Fisher; and a brother Glen Johnson.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 at Salem Baptist Church, in Ashland, with Pastor Rodney Larson and Pastor Kent Seldal officiating.
Interment will take place 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Ashland.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Roberts Funeral Home, in Ashland and continue one hour prior to the service, on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Salem Baptist Church, in Ashland.
