Iron River Reporter November 26 1997 "Edward Culver"
NELMA, Wis. – Edward J. Culver, 87, died Nov. 22 at the Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Home in Phelps, Wis.
He was born Feb. 4, 1910, in Whitcombe, Wis. The son of the late William and Ina Culver attended school in Pearson, Wis. On Dec. 24, 1935 he married the former Edna Spencer in Iron River and the couple made their home in Nelma. He was a miner working in the area mines for many years retiring from the Inland Steel Mining Co. in 1970. After retirement he worked for John Lofgren for many years. He was a member of the Little White Church in Alvin, Wis. He was preceded in death by his daughter Alta Mae; three brothers, Charles, Nester, and Ralph; two sisters Lima (yes, that was how it was spelled) Zelinski and Viola Kreger.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Dean and Gene, both of Eagle River, Wis., Roger of Somers, Wis. and Alton of Rhinelander, Wis.; two brothers, Hugo of Rhinelander and George of Tacoma, Wash.; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Little White Church of Alvin, Wis.
Visitation will also be held Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Little White Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Little White Church with the Rev. Edythe Ritchie officiating.
Pallbearers were Scott, Mark, Devin, Daniel, Edward, Jim and Alvin Culver and Bob Stapleton.
Soloist Sharon Littleton performed musical selections "In the Garden" and "O Come Angel Band".
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Alvin, Wis.
Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River was in charge of funeral arrangements.
