Birth: Dec. 30, 1919
Wisconsin, USA
Death: Nov. 21, 2006

Sophie Ann Kruppe, a lifetime resident of Ingram, passed away peacefully after a long and valiant battle with gallbladder/liver cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center in Rice Lake.

The daughter of Walter and Anna (Fafrowicz) Zasoba, Sophie was born on Dec. 30, 1919, in Crane, Wis. She was a 1937 graduate of Ingram High School.

Sophie married Edward P. Kruppe on June 29, 1938, in Ingram. They were married 27 years. Sophie never remarried. Ed passed away on Feb. 2, 1965.

Sophie and Ed farmed for many years. After Ed passed away, she went to work for the Flambeau School District. She touched many of the students hearts. They thought of her as their grandma. She retired from the school district after 32 years.

She also was the town clerk of Richland for 20 years. Grand marshal of Ingram Days was bestowed on her in 1997.

Her favorite time of the year was hunting season. She enjoyed the special camaraderie of her kids, friends and neighbors.

Sophie was quite a "paparazzi." She tried to capture precious memories of her family and friends with her camera and video camera. These will be cherished forever. She always put others before herself.

She was a Catholic and belonged to St. Anthony de Padua of Tony

Left to cherish her memory are her children. They include four sons, Raymond (Christine) of Glen Flora, Richard (Shirley) of Phillips, George (Ann) of Hartland, and Ronald (Pamela) of Glen Flora; a sister, Bernice Johnson of Kokomo, Ind.; daughters, Sylvia Cabak of Columbia Heights, Minn., Edna (Roy) McClellan of Mundelein, Ill., and Gloria (Samuel) Clough of Westmont, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, Susan (Daniel) Janorschke, Paul (Sarah) Kruppe, Allison Kruppe (Jeremy Grubba), Nikki Kruppe (Mike Jones), Sherry (Jeff) Johnson, Tina (Clayton) Timmers, Eddie Kruppe, Theresa Cabak, George (Sherry) Kruppe, Eric Kruppe, Rodney Kruppe, Diane Kruppe (Andy Klug), Joann Kruppe (Eric Hohm), James Kruppe, David Kruppe (Rahbekah Hraban), Tracy McClellan), Shawn McClellan, Patrick (Stephanie) McClellan, Robert (Danyelle) Kruppe, Holly (Wayne) Parker; 15 great-grandchildren, Kayla Kruppe, Brett Kruppe, Brooke Kruppe, Branden Kruppe, Brad Kruppe, Adam Kruppe, Seth Conigliaro, Avril McClellan, Jenesa Parker, Justin Parker, Ethan Hohm, Nikolas Hohm, and Melissa Fritsche, plus two babies to be born in November and December of this year.
