Donna was born March 15, 1932, to Leonard and Mildred (Russell) Kewin in Eau Claire. Being their only child she was loved and treasured every step of the way. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School in 1951. Donna married William W. Brinkman on April 16, 1954. They were married for 60 happy years and had four beautiful children.
Donna was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked many years alongside her mother providing the hot lunch program at Sacred Heart Catholic School and catering many happy events in people's lives. She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in the admitting department for over 25 years, mostly in the switchboard room, known as the voice of Sacred Heart. In addition to her amazing work ethic, she also supported her children in their interests. She spent many years involved with the Eau Claire Boys and Sundowners Drum and Bugle Corps and ran their charcoal chicken booth at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair. Donna was also a supporter of Veterans; both of her parents and husband served our country. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post 305 Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church and always carried her rosary with her.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William W. Brinkman; children, William L. Brinkman (Mary Beth) of Chippewa Falls, Dan Brinkman of Eau Claire, Kathleen Anderson (David) of Topsham, Maine, and Mark Brinkman (Theresa) of Altoona. Donna had four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, who affectionately referred to her as "Grandma Peaches," Beth Brinkman of Minneapolis, Minn., Sarah McKenzie (Andrew) of Mazomanie, Michael Anderson (Jacqueline) of Brunswick, Maine, and Samantha Anderson of West Bath, Maine. She had three (almost four) great-grandchildren, Liam and Milie McKenzie, Alison Teegarden, and soon to be born, Porter Anderson. Donna also has many relatives in Indiana.
She was greatly loved and will be missed dearly. Family and friends have peace knowing she is watching over us and reunited with her parents in heaven. She was full of life to the end, being her sassy self and making faces to her loved ones. Her grandchildren will always remember her response to the questions of how she is doing, "mean, crabby, and sassy."
The family would like to thank Donna's fantastic providers: Dr. Kress, the staff of The Clairemont Nursing Home, and St. Joseph's Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Friends of Sacred Heart Hospital, St. Francis Food Pantry, or a Veteran's group of your choice.
