TOWNSEND - Donald L. Erdman, age 83, of Townsend, went to be with His Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. Don was born in Abelman Rock Springs, Wis., on Feb. 16, 1924, to the late Ernest and Lucy (Kehl) Erdman.
He received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from UW-Madison, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Boulder, Colorado, and then a B.A. degree in industrial arts education from UW-Stout.
He retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force in 1970. He was part of a select and highly competent team of Air Force Personnel responsible for the development and acquisition of the Mach 3 SR-71 Strategic Reconnaissance Aircraft.
From 1972 until 1978 he taught Industrial Arts at the Algoma High School. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Townsend, where he taught Sunday school. This enabled him to share his deep faith in the Lord Jesus.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maryjane (nee Gussman); a daughter, Laura E. Tilbury Jr. of Watertown; two sons, Ernest W. (Lee) Erdman of Hephzibah, Ga., and Ronald L. Erdman of Appleton; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 5, 2007, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, Townsend, and on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Townsend.
