Julia Czerwinski was born in the Danzig area of West Prussia (then Germany, now Poland) to John (or Anton) Czerwinski and Mary Stobinski.

Her first name is also found as Juliana, Julianna and Johanna. Her surname is found as Czerwinsky, Cerwinski, Cerwinsky and Erwinsky, on her and her children's records.

A Juliane M. Czerwinski from Danzig immigrated aboard the ship "Venetia" which sailed from Hamburg, Germany, on 6 November 1892. She was age 27.

On 2 December 1892, as Julia Cerwinsky/Cevwinsky, she married Edward Julius Assmann (1841-1902) in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin. He was a widower. They had three sons, who later changed their surname to Ossmann.

Following Edward's death on 10 May 1902, as Juliane M. Assman, she married Johann Joachin Karl Broecker, a resident of Wayne township, Washington County, Wisconsin. She was his second wife. Johann/John's name is also found as Joachim, Joachin or (on his Wisconsin death record) as Joahim. He was born Oct 1849 in Germany and died 28 December 1927 in Washington County, Wisconsin. His surname is also found as Brocker and Brouker.

By the Wisconsin state census of 1 June 1905, Julia Broecker, age 40, resided in Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, with her three sons, Charles, Ernst [sic] and Herbert "Assman." Her marital status is "divorced." In the same census, "Jochem Broecker" listed himself as a widower, and lived in Wayne township, Washington County, Wisconsin, with his six children.

As Julia "Assman," she married Mathew A. (Math) Barth on 24 August 1906 in Grand Haven, Ottawa County, Michigan. He and his first wife, Theresa Rembs Barth (1854-1943), had divorced in October 1905. Math had nine children from his first marriage: Mathew Jr., Louis, Frank, Louise, Joseph, Anna, John, Gertrude and Elsie.

Math and Julia had twins, Emerson Richard Barth (1906-1968, Find A Grave 132389120) and Emma Cora Barth Schilcher Rygiewicz (1906-1944, Find A Grave 130016295).

Her obituary [which omits a mention of her second marriage] was published in the Wausau (WI) "Daily Herald" of Wednesday, 5 February 1936, page 4:

Mrs. Julia Barth, Town of Aniwa, Called by Death

Mrs. Julia Barth, 72, town of Aniwa, passed away yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cora Schilacher [sic] of Birnamwood, whom she had been visiting the past week. Funeral arrangements are uncertain, but if out-of-town relatives can get to Birnamwood by tomorrow, the funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at the Schilacher [sic] home. The deceased was born July 3, 1864, in West Prussia, Germany and came to the United States in 1891, settling in Kewaskum. She was married there to Edward Ossman [sic], a widower, who passed away May 6, 1900 [10 May 1902]. Three sons, Charles, Ernest and Herbert were born to this union. Five years later she was united in marriage with Matthew [sic] A. Barth at Kewaskum [actually, Michigan]. The family moved from there to Kaukauna and later to Appleton and Belle Plaine and seventeen years ago bought a farm in the town of Aniwa, where they have since resided. They had two children, Mrs. Cora Schilacher [sic] and Emerson Barth. The widower and the following children survive: Charles and Herbert Ossman [sic] and Emerson Barth of Madison, Ernest Ossman [sic] of Freedom, and Mrs. Schilacher [sic] of Birnamwood and four stepchildren, Mrs. Gretchen Beckwith of Chehalis, Wash., Mrs. Hannah Vondersump of Dalton, Edward Ossman of West Allis and William Ossman of Royal Oaks, Mich.

Birnamwood, Feb. 8 – Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Barth were held Thursday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Cora Schilacher [sic], the Rev. L.E. Hollestad of Wittenberg officiating. The pallbearers were Charles and Kenneth Ossman [sic], William Spears, Joseph Barth, Roy Safford and Edward Schilacher [sic]. The body was removed to Wittenberg where burial will take place later. Among the relatives who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Barth of Black Creek and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ossman [sic] and son, Kenneth of Madison.
