David B. Sinnett, 75, of Baileys Harbor, Wis., passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Scandia Village in Sister Bay. He was born April 12, 1936, in Kenmore, N.Y., the son of the late Ashley C. and Lerah (Bowers) Sinnett. Dave was united in marriage to Sondra (Heckman) on September 4, 1959. After his graduation from Garfield High School (Terre Haute, Ind.) in 1954, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington. There he obtained a Bachelors degree in Zoology and a Masters degree in Education. Dave taught graduate school at Indiana University and then moved to Racine, Wis., in 1961, teaching Biology at both Horlick and Washington Park High Schools. While at Park High School Dave served as Science Department Chair until his retirement in 1994. During his time in Door County Dave volunteered at the Ridges Nature Sanctuary, was a past board member of the Moonlight Bay Association, and ushered at the Jacksonport United Methodist Church. Dave loved many things; his family and friends, living in Door County, fishing, traveling, bicycling, boating, woodworking and winter sports (plowing his driveway). We will all miss his spontaneous humor and appetite for cookies. He is survived by his wife, Sunny; sons, Randal (Kathleen Bieneman) Sinnett and Dr. Thomas (Barbara Olley) Sinnett all of Racine, Wis. and five grandchildren; Maria, Adam, Rachel, Logan, Amanda and dog Chloe. A celebration of Dave's life will be held at the Jacksonport United Methodist Church on October 8th, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Joe Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held in Baileys Harbor Town Cemetary. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be given to Scandia Village, Ridges Sanctuary, or the Jacksonport United Methodist Church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Scandia Village Care Center for their excellent care and compassion. Thank you also to the many friends and neighbors who visited with Dave.
