Carole Louise Berl, 69 yrs old, of Paris, Ill passed away at 6:48 a.m. EDT Tuesday, Nov 2, at the Waters of Clinton in Clinton, Ind.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris with the Rev. Fr David Zimmerman as celebrant. Burial will follow in Spangler Cemetery near Clinton, In. At Mrs. Berl's request there will be no visitation.
She is the current owner of The Printer's Ink in Paris and had previously worked as a Histocechnologist at Paris Community Hospital and as supervisor of the Terre Haute Medical Lab at Union Hospital.
She was born Nov. 20, 1940, in Blanford, Ind, daughter of the late Louis Chiado and Eunice (Landsaw) Chiado. She married Melvin Berl on Nov 2, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Boyer of Jacksonville, Fla., a brother, Lewis Eugene (Wendy) Chiado of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a sister Margaret "Peggy" Jones of Lyford, Ind. She was preceded in death by a sister, Olive Davis.
Mrs Berl was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Mary's Altar Society, Right to Life of Edgar Co. Board of Directors, and the American Legion 211 Auxiliary. She served on the St. Mary's School Board and volunteered much of her time to the St Mary's lunch program and Faith in Action of Edgar Co. Mrs Berl attended Indiana State University and graduated from the Methodist Center School of Histotechnology in St. Joseph, Missouri.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Mary's School, the Paris Lion's Club or the Edgar Co. Humane Assoc.
