William T. "Bill" Bailey, 80, formerly of Odell died at 1:35 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31, in Indiana Veterans Home. He had been a patient there since June 1993.
Mr. Bailey was employed at Ross Gear Division, TRW, for 25 years, retiring in 1977. He worked in the heat treat department.
Born in Hestand, Ky., on Dec. 28, 1913, he also had lived in Chalmers and Battle Ground. He married Mona L. Gay on Jan. 12, 1957, in Lafayette. She survives.
Mr. Bailey served in the Army in World War II in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters and in the Philippines. He received five Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1154. Mr. Bailey had served on the VFW firing squad.
Also surviving are a son, Thomas W. Bailey of Odell; a daughter, Stephanie Bailey of Lafayette; two brothers, George Bailey of Brookston and Clyde Bailey of Lafayette; four sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Jewell) Young of Battle Ground, Mrs. Mary Nichols and Mrs. Joyce May, both of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Allene Kerr of Brookston.
