Louella M. Behringer Arihood, 97, of Lafayette, died at 9:09 p.m. Sat., Mar. 26, 2011, at St. Anthony Health Care.
Born Jun. 29, 1913, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Ansel and Mary Catherine Buck Behringer. She was a 1931 graduate of Monitor High School.
She married Fred Ray Arihood on Oct. 30, 1937, in Lafayette. He died May 25, 1981.
Mrs. Arihood worked as a trimmer at Brown Rubber for four years, was a housekeeper for families in Lafayette, and worked in the cafeteria at Hershey Elementary School, retiring in 1988. She also was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, cooking, baking, chair caning and ceramics.
Surviving are 10 children, twins, Daniel Arihood (wife: Carolyn) and Deanna Anderson, Frank Arihood (wife: Deborah), Natalie "Natie" Haugh, Margaret "Mag" Vanderipe, Jan Bauer and Becky Haas, all of Lafayette, Andrea Larson (husband: Stephen) of Fowler, Cheryl "Bonnie" Trout of Rossville and Laurie Fisher (husband: Mark) of Buck Creek.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 4 sisters, 3 daughters, 3 sons, and a great-granddaughter, Kristi Johnson Humphrey. She also enjoyed her cat, Paulie, and her dog, Honey.
Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home will follow a 4:45 p.m. Rosary service. Mass of Christian burial 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr. Daniel Gartland officiating. Burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be sent to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
