John Ackerman Passes Away
The lifeless body of John Ackerman, 59, was found on Monday morning, November 6, 1950 at his home in the southeast part of town, by his brother Carl, with whom he made his home. Dr. R. Schantz, who was summoned, stated his death had occurrred several hours earlier, some time during the night.
While not in the best of health following a serious illness about six weeks previous he was able to be about and attempted to do his work as usual.
The body was removed to the Howard Funeral home.
He was the son of Jacob and Augusta Ackerman and is survived by two brothers, Carl at home, and William of Goodland; one nephew, Russell Gagnon of Indianapolis; and one niece, Mrs. Ruth Miller of Chicago.
A veteran of World War I, he served overseas, and was severly injured in the battle of the Argonne during that war.
Funeral services were conducted from the Howard Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Donald McMahan officiating. Services were in charge of the American Legion Post No. 280 of Remington. Burial was made in the Remington cemetery.
