Mrs. John Bales, passed away at the home of her son in Fithian, Ill., Tuesday morning, May 7th, after an illness of several months.
Annar Marie Meade was born October 11, 1835.
John William Bales and Annar Marie Meade were united in marriage January 16, 1852. About 30 years were spent in Momence and vicinity until the death of her husband on May 10, 1903. After this time, Mrs. Bales made her home with her children.
Those surviving her are: John Bales of Fithian, Ill., Joshua and N.L. Bales of Fithian, George Bales of Pana, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. Ida Dayton of this city. She also leaves a brother, George Meade, age 91 years, living in Fithian, Ill., and a sister, Mary Jane Cromwell of Fairmont, Ill., 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the M.E. church in Fithian and the remains laid to rest in the McFarland cemetery.
