Peter Boblet, of Co. E, enrolled Oct. 16, 1861 in Springfield by Capt. Cuppy as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 24. He was 5ĀĆ 7.50Āć tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair. Born Sep. 30, 1839, in Wabash, IN, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Collamer, in Whitley Co., IN. Discharged for disability Oct. 9, 1863 in Chattanooga, TN with rank of Private. Notes: Residence also listed as Liberty Mills in Wabash Co., IN. Furloughed from Evansville Hospital on Mar. 25, 1862, for 42 days; failed to return, was arrested and returned Jun. 27, 1863. General Court Martial found him of unsound mind and stayed further proceedings to be immediately discharged on Aug. 13, 1863. Was sick in Nashville Hospital Sep.26, 1863. Discharged as an imbecile and partial deafness. Peter Baublits filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #409672 on May 9, 1864. Resident of Collamer 1880 and 1891-92; S. Whitley 1894 and N. Manchester 1901-1904. Died Nov. 5, 1906 in Whitley Co.; buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery as Baublett.
