Raymond Lee Goodner, 74, of Ooltewah, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.
He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday School director for many years, he also served as a Sunday School Director at the Savannah United Methodist Church for many years.
Raymond served his country in the Korean War through the U.S. Naval Reserves he went on to retire after 38 years of service from the Norfolk Southern Railroad and then established Goodners Equipment in Ooltewah.
He was a member of the Shepherds Sunday School Class, and a life time member of the American Legion and was a Boy Scott Master for Troup #233.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Helen Goodner.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Louise Holland Goodner, of Ooltewah; children, Jerry (Debbie) Goodner, of Charlotte, N.C., Barry (Christine) Goodner, of Ooltewah, Pattie (Rick) Beavers, of Ooltewah, Scott (Linda) Cox, of Knoxville; one sister, Mary (Curtis) Wilson, of Apison; several grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 1 p.m. in the Hwy. 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Anderson Cemetery off Snowhill Rd.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m., on Thursday all day until 9 p.m., and on Friday up to the hour of service at the funeral home.
