Biographical Information: Ruth Catherine Horn-Birkhoffer was born November 7th, 1925 at 7:30 p.m. Ruth's 1st to 3rd years of her life were lived in Highland, Indiana, then moved back to Lee, Indiana. Ruth attened the Lee School. Ruth went into 3rd grade at the Monon School, and graduated on April 22, 1946. Ruth then got a job at the E.J. Brach & Sons Candy Co. Here husband Walter was transfered to Carni, in White County Illinois. They moved back to Chicago and she got a job at Lake View Trust & Saving Bank working there for over 20 years. Ruth then worked at the Michigan Avenue Bank, South Central Bank , and Bank of Hillside. Ruth went to work in the communications Department for the Kopper's Co. after banking and worked there for an additional 10 years. Ruth was a member and worked with the Junior Achievment program for a couple years. . Ruth moved back home to White County, Indiana in May of 1978. Ruth then worked part time at the Chesse house south of Wolcott, Indiana and full time at the Monon Liquor Store, in Monon, Indiana for 10 years. She then ended up at Krogers in Monticello, Indiana were she was known as "Bag Lady". She was a member of the Eagles and Moose Auxillary both of Monticello, Indiana. Ruth also was a proud member of United States Organ Theater.
