Joseph Alleckson
Joseph Alleckson died at his home in Island Lake last Tuesday. He had been ailing for some time and had been at the Luther hospital in Watertown several times. The immediate cause of death is given as cancer.
Joseph Alleckson was born in Juneau County, Wisconsin, May 14, 1851 and came to Lyon County in 1880, his father having preceded him to this locality by one year. Some over twenty years ago, Joseph Alleckson was married to Mrs. Christine Rye and they have made their home in this village and on farms in this locality since. They have been living of a farm in the township of Island Lake for the last ten or twelve years.
The deceased is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. William Gregg, also by one sister, Mrs. H. F. Miller and one brother, John, and a half brother, P. R. Myers.
Joe, as the deceased was familiarly known here, was a man who had many friends. He had lived here since he was a young man and he was active in many ways and took a general interest in all that was going on. Joe was a good workman and a reliable, honest fellow who kept his word and treated his neighbors on the square. No man ever came to Joe for a favor and got turned down if it was possible for him to grant what was asked. He enjoyed the respect of the community and was welcome wherever he came.
The funeral will be held from the local Norwegian church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. 21 August 1920 Minneota Mascot
