Miss Mabel Cain Born Here, Dies In Chicago
Death claimed Miss Mabel Cain, daughter of Mrs. Mary Cain, of Remington, passed away at teh Kelley Sanitarium in Chicago, last Thursday evening, death being caused by heart attack and tuberculosis. Her illness dated from July 23rd.
Miss Cain was born in Remington, March 15, 1890, and received her education in the schools of Jordan and Carpenter township. Eighteen years ago she went to Chicago where she became a graduate nurse which vocation she has followed unil sticken by illness.
Mabel Cain, beloved daughter of Mrs. Mary Cain, died in Chicago, Sept. 3, 1936, and was buried in Rensselaer Sunday Sept. 6. A solemn requiem mass was celebrated Monday Sept. 7th at Sacred Heart Church in Remington by Father Fitzgerald.
Mabel Cain, a graduate nurse from St. Mary's hospital in Chicago gave her life in the service of humanity, helping all the time to alleviate the suffering and aches of others.
The funeral service was one of the most impressive held in this locality in many a day. The nurses alumni acted as guard of honor and the pure white uniforms of the twelve nurses stood out as a lasting tribute to one of their associates that had passed on when her work was done.
The captain of this group of nurse read a short eulogy at the grave and the sincerity and charm that she instilled into this tribute made a lasting impression on those who attended.
The deceased is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Cain, in Remington, two brothers and four sisters; John Cain, Gary; Martin Cain, Remington; Mrs. Arthur Kanne, Rensselaer; Mrs. P.J. Wells, Mrs. W.F. Beckman, and Mrs. Ed Bailey all of Chicago.
The funeral was atttended by relatives who came from Chicago and other cities making it necessay to command the use of 35 cars.
