"Ducky" Ahlgren, Sr.


Warren Kenneth "Ducky" Ahlgren, Sr., 82, of Portage, passed away Thursday, August 12, 1999. He was born February 17, 1917 in Gary, IN, the son of Charles Albin and Martena Westergren Ahlgren. He was Gary Firefighter, retiring at 26 years of service. He also worked for U.S. Steel for 15 years. Mr. Ahlgren was a pianist and WWII Army veteran; member of Hobart Masonic Lodge; the Charles Pratt American Legion Post 94 and V.F.W. Post 988.
In November of 1957 he married Georgiana Mason who preceded him in death March 15, 1977. Surviving are four sons, Charles Ahlgren of Portage, Warren K. Ahlgren, Jr. of
Chesterton, Thomas (Mary) Carlson of Ringgold, GA and James Carlson of Elkhart, IN; two grandchildren, a sister,
Marjorie Provenzano of Sun City, AZ; and a good friend, Rebecca Hovey of Valparaiso. His parents also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 1999, 11 a.m. at the McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN., Rev. Jon Nyberg officiating.
Interment in McCool Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon August 14th, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bartholomew Funeral Home, Valparaiso, IN.
There will be a Masonic service 4 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to donors choice.
