LaGRANGE -- Ralph L. Ackerman Jr., 69, of LaGrange, died Saturday (July 25, 2009) at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1940, in Brimfield to Ralph L. Sr. and Mary Margaret (Black) Ackerman. On Jan. 16, 1965, in LaGrange, he married E. Joyce Atwater.
She survives, along with two daughters, Janet (Craig) Hart of Wolcottville, and Deb Ackerman of Michigan City; two grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry L. (Emmaline) Ackerman of Prestonsburg, Ky., and John W. (Toni) Ackerman of Wolcottville; and one sister, Suzanne (Don) Hoover of Rome City.
Mr. Ackerman retired from Dometic Corp. in 2003, after working there since 1962 as an administrative service manager. A lifetime resident of LaGrange and Noble counties, he was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran church and was an avid golfer. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Shriner officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
