Basil Adams, 80, 2226 E. Princeton Ave., died Tuesday in Ball Hospital.
He was born in Hillsboro and lived there until coming to Muncie when he started working for Warner Gear Division (now Borg-Warner Automotive, Transmission Systems). Mr. Adams was a gear cutter there for 42 years before retiring in 1967. He was director of Delaware County Council Senior Citizens, president of Retirees Local 287, a member of Warner Gear Sympathy Club, Action Inc., National Council of Senior Citizens, Indiana Council of Senior Citizens and Region 3, Area 6, International Union.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel L. Adams, to whom he had been married 46 years; two daughters, Janet Shafer, Muncie, and Dixie Lamm, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Larry Joe Adams, Selma, and Jesse Lee Adams, Goshen; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Adams, Richmond, and John Adams, Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Calling at the mortuary is two hours before services Friday.
