He was the son of to John Brown and Rachel Peden. His mother was a devout Quaker from Pike Run, WA Co. PA. His father was also a Christian and loved to attend church.
He grew up with his siblings Alexander, Israel, Benjamin,Susan, Jane, Andrew, Esther, Ann and Margaret Brown.
William and Leaner L. Leatherman applied for a marriage license on March 20, 1860 and to this union one child, Margaret, was born.
This little family all died in about 1 1/2 year, first the baby, Margaret, then William in the spring of 1862 and Leaner in the fall. (Information provided by Waunita M. Herron)
