Richard Louis Busald, 87, Rushville, passed away June 20, 2014. Mr. Busald was born in Marion County near Southport on March 1, 1927, and was the son of the late John Albert and Mary Ann (Reckel) Busald. He was married Nov. 23,1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church to the late Loretta (Hoeing) Busald. She preceded him in death Sept. 21, 2005.
Richard was inducted into the Army serving as a member of the military police during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Richard and farming were one in the same. He loved watching the crops grow and raising cattle. He enjoyed "negotiating deals," harvesting and cracking English walnuts off his trees, and going for drives to see "what was going on.
"His greatest love and most lasting contribution is his family. He is survived by his daughters Mrs. Eric Robbins (Janice-PeeWee), Mrs. William Pike (Janet-Pork), Mrs. Mark Angle (Jackie-Jack), Mrs. John Carter (Jane); and son, Mr. John (and Penny) Busald, in addition to 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by siblings Genevive (Sister Albert Mary) Busald, Dorothy (Sister Mary Leon) Busald and Mr. Raymond Busald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rushville with Rev. Jeremy Gries presiding at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rushville's Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the rosary said at 2:45 p.m. at Todd Funeral Centre Crematory and in Rushville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard and Loretta Busald family scholarship fund c/o Rush County Community Foundation 117 N. Main St., Rushville, IN 46173.
