Bright, Gary Brent

Gary Brent Bright, 54, North Vernon, died Jan. 9, 2003. He married Diana Smith Oct. 12, 1969 in Greenwood, IN. He graduated in 1966 from Center Grove High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969; a veteran of Vietnam War. He was a member of the Amvets, Moose, Abate and Honey Creek Methodist Church in Greenwood. Mr. Bright and his boys worked on the family farm; he was well known at the Corn King.

Memorial contributions: Zenas Baptist Church. Service: 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 13 in Pickett Funeral Home, North Vernon with calling from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sun. Jan 12. Burial: Butlerville Cemetery, Butlerville, IN.

Survivors: wife Diana Bright; daughter April Bates; sons A.J. and Casey Bright; brother Terry Bright.

Preceded in death by parents Samual "Wendell" and Martha Lee Harmon Bright.

Gary Brant Bright

Gary Brant Bright, 54, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital. He was a longtime resident of North Vernon.

He was born April 28, 1948, in Johnson County. His parents were Samuel "Wendell" and Martha Lee (Harmon) Bright. He married Diana (Smith) Bright on Oct. 12, 1969, in Greenwood. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, April Bates of Greenwood; two sons, A.J. Bright and Casey Bright, both of North Vernon; a brother, Terry Bright of Franklin; and six grandchildren.

He was a 1966 graduate of Center Grove High School.

He and his sons worked the family farm, and he was well known around the community as "the corn king."

He was a member of Amvets, Moose, ABATE, and Honey Creek Methodist Church in Greenwood.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967 to 1969.

Wilma Allan will conduct a service at 11 a.m. today at Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon. Burial will be at Butlerville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zenas Baptist Church.
