Russell W. "Pete" Scripter Sr.
Russell W. "Pete" Scripter, Sr., 69, of Rensselaer, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born in Brook on May 13, 1933 to Carey and Genevieve (Dowty) Scripter.
Pete had been a lifetime resident of Rensselaer. He attended the Rensselaer schools and received his GED. He was a veteran of the United States military, serving with the armored tank division in Germany during the Korean War from 1953-1955.
He retired from 39 years with the TV Cable Company of Rensselaer, where he had been the TV Cable chief technician.
His memberships included the Rensselaer VFW Post.
On July 15, 2956 in Parr, he married Doris Chupp, who survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Terry (Ethel) Scripter of Rensselaer, Wayne (Cheryl) Scripter of Remington and Dan Scripter of Rensselaer, a daughter, Linda (Rick) Lowry of Rensselaer, a brother, Roy (Anna) Scripter of Rochester, two sisters, Betty Tyler of Rensselaer and Billie (Louis) Groot of Rensselaer, 13 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16 from 2-8 p.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday , April 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer, with Minister Scott Chastain officiating.
Burial wil follow at the Burr Oak Mennonite Cemetery.
Memorials may be made the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
