James ‘Jim' Wesley Corey

James "Jim" Wesley Corey, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away at 9 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2012. He was born on Jan. 25, 1930, to John and Goldie Corey. Jim served in the United States Army in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a retired Teamster Local 144; he worked for Chesty as a route salesman for over 30 years; and he worked at Rural King, where he fixed small engines for five years.
He and his wife Bernice Corey hauled water for over 20 years. Jim also enjoyed farming and working on motors. He attended Union Christian Church, was a member of Maryland Community Church, and most recently attended Oak Hill Church. Most of all Jim enjoyed his grandchildren, and he wanted his grandchildren to remember enjoying him as they grew up.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice Corey; son, Ray Corey; and brothers, Elsworth Corey, Paul Corey, Kenny Corey, and Raymond Corey.
He is survived by his son, Doug Corey; daughters, Janice Heleine, husband John, Debbie Wilson, husband Duane, Becky Vincent, and her husband Mark; daughter-in-law Kathy, Corey; brother, Bobby Corey; sister, Ethel Wayland; grandchildren, David Heleine, Christopher Heleine, Jonathan Corey, Michael Corey, Christie Storm, Patrick Wilson, Tiffany Rutledge, Kristen Vincent, and Hunter Vincent; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Heleine, Parker Storm, Carter Storm, and Mia Rutledge; and special niece and caregiver, Carla Chesterfield.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 1 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Pastor Tim Fagg will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home today, Oct. 19, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. Burial will be at Union Baptist Cemetery.
