Nebraska, USA
Death: Jun. 5, 1978
Platte County

Hubert Elwood Barkdoll was born March 28, 1903 in Gering, Nebraska; the son of Sanford and Effie Barkdoll. He lived in the Gering area until 1921, when his father sold the ranch at Gering and they moved to the Glendo area. Hubert and his father, moving their belongings, followed the Oregon Trail from Gering to Glendo, where his father homesteaded. Thereafter, Hubert always lived along the Oregon Trail, and whenever he moved he followed the trail. It crosses their ranch at Glendo, and also their ranch at Orin.

Hubert bought a relinquishment of a homestead and then proved up on it after he was married on May 25, 1926 to Adelaide Tachovsky in Casper, Wyoming. Hubert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Adelaide, of Glendo; one son, Robert Gene Barkdoll of Casper; two brothers, Chester Barkdoll of Fabens, Texas and Paul Barkdoll of Kaycee, Wyoming; and one sister, Grace Waters of Laramie. Three grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers, Ralph, Laurence and Ernest Barkdoll.

Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget June 15, 1978.
