Mrs. Wm. H. Cheney, passed away at her home in Bates Park last Wednesday and was burled in the Freeland cemetery on Friday, Rev. J. L. Craig conducting the funeral services. Mr. and Mrs. Cheney have lived in Natrona county for the past seventeen years and have been well known and much respected. Mrs. Cheney was the first superintendent of schools for Natrona county, and for her second term was nominated by both parties and unaminously [sic] elected. She was born in New Hampshire and began to teach school at the age 14. For twenty years she was continuously connected with school work. She was 72 years of age when she died. Not long ago she and her husband had celebrated the fortieth anniversary of their wedding, Her husband and son have ranches in Bates Park and one brother lives In New Hampshire.
