Barbara Rose Alden Resident of Concord Passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010 in Martinez, at 83 years of age. She was a native of Live Oak, California and a 55-year resident of Concord. Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald Alden; her parents, brother; and son-in-law Ed Johnson. Barbara is survived by her daughters Cheryl Barbara (John) Van Vliet of Lynden, WA, and Elaine Johnson, of Goodyear, AZ; son Michael Alden ( Jerri) of Martinez; sister-in-law Doris Alden Kemline of Fremont; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alden was a servant of God, which brought about her love and devotion to her family. Barbara worked for Contra Costa County Social Services for 21 years before retiring in 1991. Barbara, along with her husband, loved to drive all over the western United States. She loved to hike, take photographs, read and work crossword puzzles, but her love of Jehovah was her priority.
