Pearl M. Fabre, 82, Waubun, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in her home under hospice care.

Pearl Merceline Heisler was born April 15, 1920, in White Earth, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. She then worked as a nurse's aide at White Earth Hospital. On April 12, 1941, she married Jack Fabre. They lived on a farm near Waubun. In 1962 they owned and operated Fabre's Fairway Foods in Waubun. She worked for the Mahnomen (Minn.) Job Corps as a cook and for the Mahnomen County Welfare Department as a secretary. They owned and operated Hillview Board and Lodging in Waubun. She managed the gift shop at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, retiring in 1997. She served on the Minnesota Chippewa Tribal Executive Council. She was appointed to the Minnesota Human Rights Commission. He died in 1996.

She is survived by four sons, Douglas (Carol), Waubun, Don (Candi), Saginaw, Minn., Richard (Barbara), Ogema, Minn., Mark (Betty), Glyndon, Minn.; five daughters, Nancy (Al) Doll, Morton, Minn., Linda Miller, Twin Valley, Minn., Suzi Bement, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Donna Murray, Waubun, Pamela Stall, Mahnomen; five brothers, John (Martha) and Franklin (Dorothy), both Ogema, Richard (Mary), White Earth, Jim (LaVerne), Zion, Ill., Stanley "Rob" (Cleone), Waubun; 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friday from 4-8, with a prayer service at 7, and one hour before the funeral in the church.

Funeral: Saturday at 10 in Circles of Faith United Church of Christ, Waubun.

Burial: Waubun City Cemetery.
