Grace M. Fast, age 94, of Kimball died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Ecumen of Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Ostmark Lutheran Church in rural Watkins. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 7th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Voth Cemetery near Delft, Minnesota at 2:30 PM on Monday.

Grace Mariann Fast, the daughter of Axel and Anna (Berggren) Thulien, was born on January 2, 1919 in St. James, Minnesota. She grew up in rural Watonwan County. On November 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to John L. Fast in St. James. They lived on his parents' farm near Bingham Lake before moving to Litchfield in 1953. After three years they moved to a farm between Cokato and Howard Lake. In 1958, they moved to the farm near Kimball where she resided for the rest of her life. She was an active member of the Ostmark Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church. She was also a member of a neighborhood birthday club and in her early years, the Kimball golf course mostly for the social benefits. She enjoyed the life of a farm wife and the cooking, gardening and baking that went with it. She also enjoyed golfing, reading and doing ceramics. She will be remembered as an optimistic and determined person who didn't even let the loss of her eyesight get her down. She is survived by her children, James (and Diane) Fast of Hutchinson, Colleen (and Dan) Carrigan of Hutchinson, Rebecca (and David) Gassman of Hutchinson and J. Rodney Fast of Kimball, grandchildren, Melissa (and Shad) Ketcher, Shawn (and Melinda) Fast, Amanda Fast, Christopher Carrigan, Casey Carrigan, Kayla Carrigan, Rachel (and David) Thompson, Justin Gassman (and Fiancée Alexis Martinson), Travis (and Savannah) Horrocks, great grandchildren, Mckenzie, Grant, Ellie, Jackson and Nolan. She is also survived by her brother Robert (and Dorothy) Thulien of Sleepy Eye, sisters Doris Wiens of Windom and Darlene (and Duane) Harris of Cortland, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, son Gordon Douglas Fast, brothers, Richard, LeRoy, Alden, Charles, Verne and sisters, Viola and Annette.
