Edith Christine Anderson, 89, long time resident of Duluth, Allendale Ave, passed away on April 24, 2004. She was born Dec. 21, 1914 to Christ and Alma (Christianson) Andersen in Duluth. She grew up in Homecroft and graduated from Central High School in 1932.

She worked at the Lincoln Hotel, Arrowhead Hotel and the Spaulding Hotel where she met Runar S. Anderson. They were married June 30, 1940. She was a devoted wife and mother of four children. She was a member of the Cobb School PTA and Woodland Legion Auxilary. She was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church, now Hope United Methodist Church. She belonged to a sewing club with her friends for over 60 years. Besides her family, she loved gardening and spending time at the cabin fishing. Mother's Day was always celebrated at the cabin because Edith never missed a fishing opener. She was an avid sports fan of the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves and the UMD Bulldogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband Runar in 1994; her parents; her sister, Evelyn (Alfred) Christianson; and son-in-law, Jeff Kinnunen.

Edith is survived by four children, Charlotte (Robert) Mahai, Carl (Maria) Anderson (Hibbing, Minn.), James (Vivian) Anderson, Carol Kinnunen; and her brother, Ernest Anderson (Excelsior, Minn.), grandchildren, Carrie (Shawn) Landman, Colin Mahai, Christine Mahai, John (Michelle) Anderson (West St. Paul), Steven Anderson, Alicia (Jim) Vizanko (Warroad, Minn.), Nicholas Anderson, Jennifer (Ben) Anderson-Hedberg (North Branch, Minn.), James Anderson (Seattle, Wash.), Kelly Kinnunen, Andrew Kinnunen, great-grand daughter, Kate Ruth Vizanko; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Shore Lutheran Home for their compassionate care of Edith.
