MariaLuisa B. Alcala

Oxnard, CA

MariaLuisa Alcala was born June 28, 1937 in Lobatos, Zacatecas, Mexico. In 1965, she moved her 5 children tothe United States settling in Oxnard California where she gave birth to her 6th child a year later. MariaLuisa was a resident of Oxnard for 50 years where she raised her family and during that time enjoyed life with her parents and brother, as well as her extended family. She worked at Oxnard Frozen Foods for 23 years before the plant closed at which time she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren.

Mom or grandma depending on who was describing her was always up for fun and a GOOD laugh. She always loved to laugh whether it be at herself or one of the kids' silly antics. She was made famous by her youngest son Bobby for giving the "finger" in the pictures they took together. He always told her these pictures would be used for her collage one day and she would laugh about it. She also tried staying cool and hip by learning the youth's lingo so she could talk with her grandkids and she would sit and listen to their music with them so they could have bonding time and become current with today's technology like Bluetooth (known to her as bluetwo). She was always up for a new challenge and faced it head on. MariaLuisa loved her family. Laughing, talking and spending time together were some of her cherished moments. If you asked her to do anything she would give you a funny look and then do it like throwing funny gang signs with her grandkids. She just loved to entertain!!! She was a wonderful singer and the family would get her to sing as often as possible. Some of the more recent times were at her granddaughters wedding, her son's wedding and her daughter's birthday. We will forever be grateful for the gift, the blessing, the Guardian Angel that is MariaLuisa Alcala.

MariaLuisa is survived by 6 children, her first born Rosie Garcia (whom she has now joined in heaven), Juan Alcala of Arizona, Alfredo Alcala, Margarita Alcala, Carlos Alcala all of Oxnard, CA, and Roberto Alcala of Camarillo, CA. She is survived by 15 grandchildren.
