|Birth: ||Aug. 23, 1853|
|Death: ||Oct. 29, 1935|
Caroline attended school and grew to young womanhood at Loran. In March 1872 she was united in marriage to Simon and to this union eleven children were born, seven sons and four daughters. Four sons preceded their parents in death, two dying in infancy and two in the service of their country during WWII. In 1883 the family moved from Illinois to a farm near Holland in Grundy County, IA. In 1891 they left Iowa and came to Round Lake in Nobles County. About four years later they came to Belfast Township in this county. In 1912 they again left Minnesota, going to Naples, SD where they lived two yrs, returning to Fulda in 1914. In 1927 Caroline lost her husband and since that time has lived with her granddaughter, Mrs. Elmer Dalin (Opal). In the summer of 1917 Mrs. Ascher suffered a serious auto accident in which she sustained injuries that remained an almost permanent source of suffering until her death. Her last years especially were attended with much suffering due to various causes that made her frail and feeble. Death came after an illness of only a few days duration, and was due mainly to the weakness brought on by long suffering and old age.
Caroline passed away on Tuesday morning being 82 years, two months, and six days old. The living children are Henry of Fulda; Conrad of Heron Lake; Albert of Hazel, SD; Mrs. Theo. (Mary) Frey of Melvin, IA; Mrs. Ferdinand (Sophie) Nimerfroh of Avoca; Mrs. Adolph (Amelia) Rammers of Naples, SD; and Mrs. Henry (Anna) Mattison of Heron Lake.
