Simon passed away at his home here on Friday at the age of 77 years. His death being caused from cancer of the liver. He has been ailing since last January and was confined to his bed about four weeks.
At the age of 12 years he came to this country settling first at Freeport, IL, moving later to Holland and Ocheyedan, IA, and then to various places in Minnesota in which state he has lived for 46 years. For the past 12 years he has made his home in Fulda.
In April 1871, he was united in marriage to Caroline Brown at Loran, IL. Eleven children were born to this union, four sons preceding him in death. The living children are Henry of Fulda; Conrad of Heron Lake; Albert of Hazel, SD; Mrs. Theo. Frey of Melvin, IA; Mrs. Ferdinand (Sophie) Nimerfroh of Avoca; Mrs. Adolph Rammers of Naples, SD; and Mrs. Henry Mattison of Heron Lake. Beside his wife and children, one sister, Mrs. Henry Meyer of Pearl City, IL and 26 grandchildren are left to mourn his death.
Funeral services were conducted from the house Thursday at 1:00 by Rev. Heiser of the Avoca Lutheran Church.
The Fulda Centennial 1881-1981 states that Siman was a local auctioneer in Fulda in the early years.
