Carmen worked at 1st National Bank during the 1960's and then worked at IBM, retiring in 1985. Carmen drove cars for Tom Kadlec Honda until 2006. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for friends and grandchildren, playing cards with family and friends, watching the Twins with Sonny, taking family vacations, and watching her grandchildren in their various activities.
Carmen is survived by two daughters, Julie (James) Haessig, of Trempleau, WI, Sherry McCoy, of St. Michael, MN; two sons Mark (Pat) Atkinson, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Michael (Cheryl) Atkinson, of Rochester; two brothers, Ronald Stiles of Brookshire, TX and James (Tina) Stiles of Hondo, TX; a sister in law Jeanne Atkinson, of Zimmerman, MN; 11 grandchildren, one great grand-daughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral for Carmen Atkinson will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverend Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating. Burial will take place at Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in South Troy.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2008 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, and an hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.
