Ernest E. Allee, age 94, longtime resident of Duluth, while at home, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
He was surrounded by his loving family.
Ernest was born Feb. 6, 1915, in Staples, Minn., to Edward and Charlotte Allee. In 1937 he married Iness Collison. Ernest worked for Northern Pacific Railroad, which merged and became Burlington Northern Railroad. He started as a fireman and later became an engineer. Ernest retired in 1980. Beginning at age 81 and for the next 11 years, Ernest worked for his daughter and son-in-law at the Skywalk Express.
Ernest loved to sing and play the guitar and he enjoyed camping at Jay Cooke State Park. He was an active member of Alliance Community Church and was a helper with A.W.A.N.A. Earnest was a part of the prison ministry through the Gideons.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and four sisters; his son Albert and daughter, Dorothy Moneta.
He is survived by his loving wife, Iness; five children, Laura Lee, Elnora Gulbranson and Ruth (Bob) McCauley, all of Duluth, Leonard Allee and Richard (Juanita) Allee, all of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Janet Allee, of Baxter, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Bell Brothers Funeral Home and will continue from 11:30 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday, July 31, at Alliance Community Church, 2621 W. Arrowhead Road. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. West.
