Dwight Neil Carlson, 52 of Oklee, MN died on Friday, May 29, 1998 at his home in Oklee, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at 10:30 AM at Nazareth Church rural Gully, MN with Reverend Steven Sparley Officiating. Burial will be held in the Mt Olive Cemetery near Trail on Friday, June 5, 1998 at 10:00 AM.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 – 8 PM with a 7:30 prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee, MN and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Dwight Neil Carlson was born August 20, 1945 in Crookston, MN son of Dale and Norma (Tommervick) Carlson. He was raised near Sundahl, MN and attended school in Gary, MN, the family moved to Trail, MN in 1952 where he attended school in Trail and Gonvick, MN. Dwight entered the US Army and served in Korea until his Honorable discharge in 1971. He returned to Thief River Falls where he worked at Home Lumber for a time. He married Sharon Woods in 1970 in North Dakota. In 1972 he began working for Pennington County where he worked for them for 25 years until retiring in 1997. He moved to a farm North of Gully in 1974 and into Oklee in 1989 where had resided since.

Dwight was an active member of the Nazareth Church holding various Offices, also a member of the Hickory Township board for many years. He served on the Oklee Fire Department and the Oklee Ambulance and was a member of the Trail American Legion Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling and was a lifetime member of the WMSTR at Rollag, MN.

He is survived by children Shawn Carlson and Fiancé Kippy Martell of Oklee, MN: Kay Rhoades (Harold) of New Haven, CT: Jack Lee Jr. (Tracy) of rural Oklee, MN: Marcia Senske of Oklee, MN. Grandchildren Kyla Rhoades, Jorge Rhoades, Jack Lee III, Serena Senske, Rebecca Senske, Shania Senske, Joshua Senske: mother Norma Carlson of Thief River Falls, MN; Sister Melissa Carlson of Thief River Falls, MN and Brother Harvey Carlson of Trail, MN.

Dwight is preceded in death by his father Dale in 1971, Sister Emily in 1962 and grandparents Harry and Manda Carlson.
