On Saturday, July 19, 2008, Alease Virginia Butler, 79, departed her life at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia.

Alease was born on October 25, 1933 in Warrenton, Virginia to the late Dan and Mable Smith.

Alease grew up in a Warrenton settlement known as Frytown and attended school in Fauquier County. Early in her adult life she left Warrenton to pursue nursing school and work in Washington DC until she returned to Midland, Virginia in the early 1970s.

In 1973 with passion and spiritual commitment she opened her home to many young people and senior adults as a professional care provider.

Alease was known to many in the community as "Mom", "Granny" or "Miss Alease", always providing care and comfort to those in need.

Preceding her to eternal rest on June 19, 2008; her husband of 45 years Charles Stanley Butler.

Alease leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Cynthia Tapscott of Bealeton, VA, Decker (Delores) Tapscott of Warrenton, VA, Cameron (Jeannie) Tapscott, of Warrenton, VA, and Catherine (Jerome) Chatman of Manassas, VA. She also leaves behind, one brother, Almus (Millie) Smith of Warrenton, VA; one sister, Ethel Sanker of Midland, VA; two uncles: Otha Campbell and Ashby Campbell of New Jersey and one brother-in-law, Robert L. Butler of Warrenton, VA; thirteen grandchildren: Allison and Malcom (who were raised by Alease and Charles) Yvonne, Shawna, Danielle, Candice, Jerome Jr., Dion, Decker Jr., Dennis, Daron, Demond, and Derek; twenty-one great grandchildren; one extended family member - senior resident, Lina Bradford and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family received friends Thursday, July 24,, 2008 from 11am until 12 noon service time at Faith Christian Church and International Outreach Center, 6472 Duhollow Road, Warrenton, VA 20187. Dr. Decker Tapscott, Sr., Pastor, Dr. Ricardo White, Euologist. Interment Bright View Cemetery, Warrenton, VA. Arrangements by JOYNES, Warrenton, VA.
