Anna Rebne Anderson was born in Gol, Hollingdal, Norway, on June 24, 1852. At the age of 21 she and two of her sisters, Kari and Aagot, came to America. She met Tollef in Carpenter, IA, and they were married in 1875. They farmed 7 miles northwest of Adams in Clayton Township. She was a charter member of the Northwest Aid and served as its president for 12 consecutive years.

Anna Rebne married Tollef Thomas "Tom" Anderson in 1875 in Mitchell Co., Iowa. Tollef and Anna Anderson had six children; Anna Lena (Hanson), Anna (Wilbrecht), Andrew, Julia (Wilbrecht), Carl and Alma Tonetti Anderson.
