August Henry Hotzler was born April 15, 1891 at Cherokee, Iowa to August W. and Lena Hotzler. At the age of 1 year, he moved to a farm north of Heron Lake, Minnesota and later moved to a farm by Miloma, Minnesota where he attended rural school as a young man and worked at the Miloma elevator and depot. He and Amelia C. Hesh were married December 24, 1918 in Jackson County. They settled on a farm near Miloma for a year before moving to Alba Township, where he lived until February 5, 1987 when he entered the Good Samaritan Home at Westbrook, Minnesota. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Okabena, Minnesota. August died May 10, 1987 in Westbrook at the age of 96 years and 25 days.
He is survived by 3 sons, Harold, Warren and Robert of Okabena, Minnesota. 4 daughters-in-law, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Amelia, 1 son Ralph, his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
