DuWayne O. Anderson, 59, Fergus Falls, died yesterday, Jan. 15, at Veterans Hospital, Fargo. Services will be Monday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Federated Church with Rev. William Sebring officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery.
Born Oct. 7,1921, in Friberg Township, he was the son of Oscar and Clara Anderson. He attended School District 193 and worked at Fergus Falls State Hospital before enlisting in the Navy in 1942. Returning to Fergus Falls after his Naval service during World War II, he married LaVerne Britenbauch at St. James Catholic Church, Maine, on May 20, 1948. He started Anderson Brothers Construction Company in 1947, retiring in 1976. He also owned Foxhome Central Bar.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post 612, American Legion Post 30, the Disabled American Veterans, the Eagles and Elks.
Survivors include his mother, Clara, of Fergus Falls; his wife; a daughter, Elizabeth Gust of Foxhome, and a son, Monty of Denver, Colo.; one grandchild; four brothers, Merven of San Diego, Lyle of Fergus Falls, David of Erhard, and Daryle of Rush Lake; and two sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Lavern) Muchow and Mrs. Manley (Valdine) Haugen, both of Fergus Falls.
Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. with prayer service by Rev. Timothy Wenzel at 8 p.m. at Glende-Johnson-Nelson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and continues one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
